Hello New Roots Community!

Welcome to our first newsletter!

We will have 6 events where you can find us this fall (see below for a complete list). Call Matt directly to ask any questions about specific plant availability, inventory, or more information. It’s been a hot summer and thankfully our favorite season is nearly upon us. Local summer/fall in NC is our favorite time when the weather starts to cool down a bit, crowds thin out as school starts back up, and gardens come back to life! The scorching summer heat subsides, and it remains warm for another 2 months. That means we can keep our summer garden thriving & prepare for a beautiful fall harvest by planting some of the absolute best crops like Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Kale, and Brussel Sprouts!

These plants are staple fall crops that if planted in early September will have you enjoying delicious produce from your garden in no time. Some of which you'll be harvesting well into spring of 2027!

We currently have the following varieties expected to be ready for sale at our first driveway sale on August 29th with several rare heirloom varieties (Limited availability):

  • Di Cicco Broccoli

    • Harvest @ 3", plentiful side shoots long after for frequent harvest

  • Purple of Sicily Cauliflower

    • Yes - it's really a Purple cauliflower!

  • Snowball Cauliflower

    • All white, reliable

  • Red Acre Cabbage

    • A notoriously excellent quality plant

  • Red Rubine Brussel Sprouts

    • Stunning dark/purple-colored leaves with similar colored sprouts. Plants are hardy outside all winter with no protection.

  • Red Russian Kale

    • Reliable and hardy through frost

  • Lacinato Kale

    • Reliable and hardy through frost

Rare heirloom varieties include; Thousandhead Kale (nicknamed Dinosaur Kale), Green Macerata Cauliflower, Dwarf Blue Kale, Romanesco Cauliflower (Green heads w/ Fibonacci sequence), Gigante Di Inverno (Winter Giant Spinach - extremely cold hardy) and a few others.

We are also well-stocked on flowering perennials, natives, unique/rare shrubs, and have a TON of unique/rare tropical plants we've been propagating and growing this season!

We are excited to kick off the fall planting season and hope to see you soon!
